My buddy just installed Red Hat 7.2 I am unable to configure X windows properly. He has an onboard video card (SIS 6326 - Chipset - M717... The monitor is also correctly identified. But when it goes to test the setting, the desktop is black. The Icons and toolbar look fine but the text is black on black and thus unreadable. If he runs KDE or Gnome, I get black on black unreadable menus that flicker to white on white or once in a while readable text when he passes the mouse over the menu. He has tried every combination of resolutions and sync rates, none of which make any difference. Anyone know what might be wrong?
