Hi, I've just had a friend copy Linux Mandrake 7.0 (yep, I know its old) onto a CD for me. It was on a DVD ROM (from a magazine) which is why I had him copy it onto a normal CD for me. My question is this, as this CD is not bootable, how do I go about creating and installation boot floppy?

I've searched the entire contents of the CD and there are no executable files or even text files explaining what is to be done. I had a look on Mandrakes website but they only have info on how to create a bootable CD and not a floppy disk.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hmmm. On my man7 CD there's a /dosutils directory containing rawrite.exe You sure you don't have this tool in there? Let me know and I can give further info....

I had a look, there is no 'dosutils' directory. Directory structure is as follows:

base
instimage
mdkinst
Rpms

Total size of directories combined: 616MB

Hope this helps and thanks for the reply...

Actually, in dos, go to e:\dosutils\autoboot (change to e: to whatever drive letter your cd-rom is) then type autoboot.bat and it will kick in the installation program.
That's how I installed M 7.0 way back when I didn't know the joys of Debian. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif
Good luck.
Oh, and there is in the \dosutils directory on the cd rawrite.exe ... just follow the prompts correctly (you need one of the images in the \images directory on the disk) and you'll have yourself a boot floppy.
There is also a README.txt on the disk that will explain all of this.

Okay, I think it may be hiding in the mdkinst directory on the disk. Look through there.
Try and find that autoboot.bat. That's what did the trick for me.
