how do i link with -lz ?? newbie stuff

ok.. i got mcl.0.59. or some crap.. and i got zlib installed.. and now i'm running into linking erros.. the problem had been addressed in the yahoo group for mcl.. which states i should link with -lz..ok.. i've tried putting it in diff. places in the makefile and only ended up making matters worse.. can someone shove my head through the, programming for complete idiots, trash can and help me out?

Well, you could look at the LIBZ variable first... right now, it's set to nothing. It should be set to -lz

If you still get errors, post them, verbatim.
