compiling programs

whenever i download software that isn't in .rpm format, but you have to use ./configure, it always says that i don't have the right software installed, and this is a clean install of rh 7.3

Did you install the developmental packages? They are needed to compile from the source code.

i'm using rh 7.3, and i chose custom-everything, so everything was installed
