Compiling Eterm

Trying to compile Eterm i get the following error : 'error : Fatal : libX11 not found'

I did a search of my system and found a link libX11.so pointing to libX11.so.6.2 in usr/X11R6/lib. What is wrong? Is it in the wrong place or is just the wrong thing?

may be a missing library
