y use apache 1.3.x when there is 2.x.x??

i noticed alot of major websites (like 99%) still use the old apache version 1.3.x.x
when apache 2.x.x came out a while ago..

is it the performance of the new apache is not comparable to the older one?? or ppl jux lazy to upgrade..??

Doing an upgrade would more than likely require downtime . Also , theres an old addage "If it aint broke , dont fix it."
