How do I re-format a drive that has failed to properly install and run Red Hat 7? After 24 hours of getting it to try and recognize my lack of an onboard IDE controller, I'm ready to scrap it and try Debian.
Note that I can't even run through a full boot> I have been getting irq errors all day and I'm on my fifth kernel compile. I give up.
So how does that format work? Do i fdisk and wipe the partitions when I install Debian or does it need to be all shiny and clean before I run the install?
I need to know what release will have the best support for the ULTRA ATA/66 IDE controller. The system I own came with a lame *** version of a mother board that didn't have onboard IDE. So i get stuck with a piece of .... with a PCI ide controller card to speed it up.
