As normal user I have no sound under debian,
as root all works perfectly!
I installed it with the alsa-drivers.
How can I change that?
Thank you!

Hopefully this can help:

If you can't wait for a reply, a quick forum search will usually turn up the answer.

Thanks - I will try that both!
(to make the sound work now and a forum search the next time!)
best regards

Okay, I tried it.
*.wav and mp3 works perfectly now, but simple musik-CDs still dont!
It would be very nice, If someone had any suggestion.
Thanks Jan

Do you have read permissions on the CD device? If you're trying to listen to them with Xmms, do you have libmikmod?

Add the user to the audio group.
chmod 755 /dev/hdX (your cdrom drive)
That should do it.
