Hi all ,

I have my linux box (rh7.1) that I just finished installing. I have a dsl connection at my little office. I would like to make my box host one of my site that I'm putting together. In the box I have 2 nic cards both of them are d-link cards. I have a couple of questions

1. What do I need to have my site up and running from my machine that is running linux.

2 . What do i have to load or configure to have the same connection plus have a internal connection with other win's box ...

3 . What do i need to protech my site.

4. What do i need to configure so hacks and other people try not to reach my site or other computers on my network.

I know to hosting the my site, I need to be runnig a web server. I have apache running and configure.

But setting up the rest I dont know. So if someone could show me what the first steps until the end were I have my server hosting my site plus be able to add more machines for a internal network.

Thank you guys

Bishop

This is a pretty tall order; it would be helpful if you could familiarize yourself with linux to the point where you can ask specific questions, rather than such broad inquiries as "what to I need to protect my site". There are alot of good resources online, starting right here with the Linuxnewbie.org NHF's (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/). Another excellent source is linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org), especially the document Securing and Optimizing Redhat (http://linuxdoc.org/LDP/solrhe/Securing-Optimizing-Linux-RH-Edition-v1.3/index.html) and the Network Administrators Guide (http://linuxdoc.org/LDP/nag2/index.html). Luck!

I think your question is too general to answer here. The best is first learn a little bit about TCP/IP and then read a book. Like linux unleashed or something like that and then ask for a lots of Luck!!
good luck
