Here is one for you tinkerers out there.
ADIC tape library with 12 tape magazine (DDS-2). I paid $65 for it at the Phoenix Computer Swap Meet. The plan was to use Amanda which has support for the robotic autoloader to do network backups on my home LAN.
The device works (kindof) took 2 hours to backup a 2GB partition, but it finished sucessfully. There seems to be some kind of hardware fault, where the drive clicks, stops working for a few seconds then recovers. Needs new DDS-2 drive. It is open architecture design and will support standard drive. ADIC won't support it because I am not the original purchaser.
Complete w/Adaptek SCSI II card and 6' cable, (7) DDS-2 cartridges, user manual. No reasonable offer refused!! Wife says it is taking up too much room in the house (17W"x15D"x8H")
