To use XFree86 4.02, You need glibc2.2 (at least that's what I'm being led to beleive.)

I downloaded glibc 2.2, but it wants linux threads. (Tried without linux threads, I recommend not doing that.)

So I downloaded linux threads, But I can't figure out how to install it. Anyone succesfully upgraded to 2.2? (I beleive slack uses 2.1.something.)

ftp.freesoftware.com is down so use this mirror to get at the kernel slackpacks:

slack -current mirror @ sunsite (ftp://sunsite.utk.edu/pub/linux/slackware/slackware-current/slakware)

hope this helps

if your using slack, all you need to do is go to the www.slackware.com (http://www.slackware.com) and download glibc.tgz from the packages link, then as root do

upgradepkg glibc.tgz glibc

and let it do its thing and bingo glibc 2.2

get glibcso.tgz too and do upgradepkg when in level 1(init 1 in a term)
