SAMBA Difficulties -- NMBD Won't Start

I've installed Mandrake 8.2. I'm running a Windows workgroup and want to share files and printers between the Win2K, Win98 and Linux boxes.

I installed Samba and it is running. However, NMBD will not start. The machines are able to ping each other, but cannot be seen in Network Neighborhood.

Any thoughts?

set the host name for your ip address in /etc/hosts

Thanks much, jumpedintothefire for the quick reply. That seems to have been most of the trouble.

I'm still trying to get up to speed on networking with in Linux, so I'm sure I'll have some more newbie questions soon.
