Make command in MD 8.0

Coming from a Redhat environment, I have always taken this command for granted. I am now running Mandrake 8.0 and just typing make does not work. Believing that the problem was caused by not having the correct path set, I tried to locate "make" so that I could add the path. Doing a
find /* | grep make
I was unable to locate it. Where is this located?

For me it is in /usr/bin.

maybe make isn't even installed?

you don't have make installed. Mandrake does normally install it if you choose development platform or whatever the choice is called in the installer.
