Is Mandrake really slow or is it just me?

I've been running Slackware on my Sillyron box for a couple of months. Just for the heck of it, I decided to re-install Mandrake. Tar, bzip and java seem to be noticeably slower. Anyone else notice this?

Oh, well... It serves me right for being disloyal to Slack. I have seen the error of my ways. Tomorrow I will return to Slack (or FreeBSD).

Depends on your window manager. KDE2 is a real hog. I saw a Pentium II 450 with a Matrox G400 go from 5 fps to 35 switching from KDE2 to Sawfish.

Ditto that on the KDE 2.0. I dumped Drake 7.2 and went back to 6.0 because of it.

I've tried Mandrake,Definite,Redhat,Corel & some i can't remember.But Suse7's the one for me.
It's very quick compared to Mandrake,also i can watch mpeg movies & play Loki game demos now!
I could never do that with Mandrake.

But i do miss Mandrake's config tools!

Mandrake is great because it is so easy to configure and can be almost 100% graphical ... but it has always run slow for me ... much slower than Red Hat on my machines. (no offence to RH fans).
