I've tried rubbing it out, I've tried scrubbing it out, ...
No, really, everytime I boot, doesn't matter what I have done, RedHat 7.3 keeps trying to install my sound card as a cs4232. It is really a cs4235. I have downloaded the ALSA drivers, compiled them, made them, and installed them. Then I went into the modules.conf file and edited it for the cs4235 (in ALSA it is the cs4236). Rebooted, and during boot RH shows installing cs4232. Tried removing the driver manually with modprobe -r cs4232 (device busy) and couldn't. So I thought, I'll stop the system from detecting new hardware, and edited SysVInit to get rid of kudzu, RE-edited modules.conf, re-booted, same problem. How can I stop this d*mn thing from seeing the sound as a cs4232??
BTW, I did search for "wrong soundcard" and "incorrect soundcard" before posting. No matches that gave me any clues.
