I have been struggling with the hardware configuration for KDE. Every time I run lizardx and go through the hardware configuration is seems as though the settings are not saved. When I type 'KDE' to run the app, I recieve a few errors (I appologize I don't have a detailed error message) and am sent back to the prompt. Also, when I test the video settings (within lizardx) the screen doesn't change. Should it? I am running lizardx as 'root'. I have looked for help in as many resources as I can find but to no avail.
I am running Caldera's OpenLinux 2.3 (download version) running on a Micron P-120 (overclocked to 133), Diamond FireGL 1000 4MB video card, 96MB RAM.
HELP!

After having many problems with RedHat 6.1 I decided to try OpenLinux. I had the same exact problem as you. Lizard (for x) and Lisa (for console) were displaying totaly different things. The Lisa config set everything right but Lizard kept screwing everything up. Maybe they'll fix it some day.
If the screen doesn't change it means that the mode you are trying to set does not work. I was also very dissapointed with the user management on Caldera. About the only thing I liked on OpenLinux 2.3 was that it was stable and fast. I eventually got rid of it and tried Linux Mandrake 7. Despite their new worthless graphical install I found it to be a great distro.

Thanks to both of you for your input. After much frustration I decided to change out my video card (to a Diamond Stealth 64). I then installed Corel's Linux and... VIOLA! Success! On a whim, I decided to re-install OpenLinux 2.3 and... VIOLA! Success again! Both of the Linux installs had XFree 3.3.4 and it looks like XFree86 3.3.4 doesn't like my FireGL 1000. I am going to upgrade to XFree 3.3.6, switch back to the FireGL and try OpenLinux again. I will let you know what happens (it might be a while though)
