ok, i havent read the whole thing yet on samba but everything i see assumes you have a login for windows, i just have 2 boxes at home, a winme and my rh7.3 my wife uses the win machine and shes not going to want to have to login each time it reboots. security is not a concern at all as nothing important goes on here. so what do i do to not have a user name/pass specified for the win machine?

I guess I can't read. I haven't found anything in the documentation that allows global guest access. And you need a real username for samba to validate the connection. If you you don't enter a password at the windows box and add a user with a null password for samba (using smbpasswd) then your wife will only have to press the enter key to logon and have access to the samba shares. Maybe someone else know what windows uses for a username if its not specified.

To avoid having to manually log into the ME box with a password, d/l TweakUI and install it. It'll show up in the control panel. Open it up and set it to automatically log on with the username and p/w.
