I changed my screen settings and rebooted my linux box, and when it rebooted it wouldnt get back to the graphical interface...it went
Nate Login:
and the screen goes black and it comes back
and says
<return to cancel>
and i can login as root but its only like a terminal. I dont want to have to reinstall cuz i dont want to loose everything. I can still access my stuff from the terminal...is there any way i can change my screen resolution back to whut i had it to before.
Please help, thanx

hello,
sure! use what ever tool you used to change your resolution before. i.e. xf86config or xconfigurator. of course you need to go through everything again for setup. i.e. set refresh rates, color depths....

I used DrakConf then changed screen resolution...but i did that in the graphical linux. I dont know how to get back there or run it from a terminal.

Ok. Assuming you are using XFree86 3.3.6 (dunno how to do it under 4.0.x), try this:

Cntrl+Alt+F2 to go to a console login. Login as root. type 'XF86Setup' and configure your X again. If you need help w/ XF86Setup, try 'man XF86Setup'. If you don't have the program or if you need the VGA16 x-server, you may have to load and mount your install CD and manually add it w/ the command 'rpm -Uvh <package_name>

Actually i am using 4.0.2....i cant find the XF86Setup. Where is it? i looked in /xc but i cant find it. Is there anyway else? thanx
