Unless logged in as a super user the most a virus will do to a (properly configured) Linux system is mess with the account of the user who has recieved it and run it. There's also less chance of a virus propagating because it doesn't have security blackspots like MS Outlook. To cap: Linux viruses are quite rare. Evil Jeff 08-06-2001, 06:33 PM I know there is a virus scanner for linux, but I can't remember the name. There are very few virii for linux. Mostly attacks come in the form of worms, and if your security is set up well and your system is up to date on security updates, everything should be fine. By the way, what is linux 6.0? Isn't linux in 2.4.7 right now? bdg1983 08-07-2001, 06:49 AM By the way, what is linux 6.0? Isn't linux in 2.4.7 right now? linux 6.0 could be Redhat or whatever distros had the 6.0 version. 2.4.7 is the kernel and has really nothing to do with how the different distros name their versions. sdunn 08-07-2001, 08:14 AM Sorry I forgot to add that this linux redhat 6.0. The mail server is for windows machines. I want the mail server to scan for viruses before the windows machines receive the email. So this is what I am looking for sorry for the vague description before. justlinux.com
