....would like to upgrade my kde on it... I think the verison that comes with it is like 3.0 or something... after going to the kde.org site I saw 3.1 beta and would like to try it out....I just don't know how to updgrade my kde version... I went to http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/kde/unstable/kde-3.1-beta1/Mandrake/8.2/RPMS/
and downloaded the rpms..... now I have no idea what to do next please help I would be extreemly greatful

Either use the gui rpm manager for your desktop or the command line from an x terminal.
