Hello,
I am new to Linux and am learning in leaps and bounds but am stuck.
I'm trying to upgrade XFree86 to the version found on RPMFind in the Rawhide (next RH beta version) area due to a known bug with the current version of XFree86 included in RH7.3.
Before you ask, its the console switching lockup bug on ATI Radeon cards. My laptop has the Radeon Mobility M7 graphics chip and it locks up everytime I try to switch consoles.
The problem is known and is fixed in the rpms for XFree86 in Rawhide.
I have downloaded all the packages for that version of XFree86 and all the dependencies listed both on RPMfind and also from the error message given when I try to run RPM at the command line in runlevel 3.
It keeps giving me dependency failures even though I've double checked the dependencies like 6 times now.
Any ideas?
