I had to install a new motherboard because my old one kept frying my memory and I kept having to buy new memory. Anyway, I put everything as well as I could in the same places they were in the old motherboard (cards, etc.) and Redhat 7.1 works fine except the mouse does crazy things. Up and to the right work, and left or down return me to the bottom corner of the screen and seem to press the enter key. I have tried booting up with the RH 7.1 installation disk and the mouse seems to be detected fine and the cursor goes where it is supposed to, so I know that if I reinstalled RH 7.1 the mouse would work. The thing is, I have it set up exactly the way I want it, and if I reinstall, I would have to wipe certain partitions that it would probably be better to keep, and backing it all up would take forever. Is there a file somewhere I can edit or maybe a new kernel module I can install to make the mouse do what it's supposed to do? Thanks.

PS The old MB was an MSI and the new one is ECS K7S5A, if that makes any difference.

It's a Logitech optical wheel mouse. The same mouse I was using before. As far as I can tell, it puts out exactly the same output as a regular ball mouse.

I figured out the solution: reboot twice, first with the mouse disconnected and then when the window pops up, remove the configuration for the mouse. Then reboot with the mouse connected and the window will pop up again to configure the "new hardware". The problem is that I had the mouse configured as a microsoft intellimouse so I could use the wheel, but with this motherboard it maps the signals differently pr something. So now it's configured as a generic 3 button mouse and the wheel doesn't work. :(

Can anyone tell me how to get the wheel working with RH 7.1 and this particular hardware configuration? I am running the 2.4.18 kernel, if that makes a difference.
