Hello,
last night I attempted to install linux (RH7.3) onto my computer using CDs with the .iso images burnt to them. Every thing was going peachy until the system asked for the second CD, which I entered, but the computer would not acctept it as the 2nd CD (I took it out and rentered it a number of time to no avail).
I rebooted the compter (in windoz xp, I hope to have a dual boot system when I get RH to work) and checked all my CDs to be sure they where Disk 1, 2, and 3 respectively and all RH7.3. The only thing I can think of as being the problem is that I down loaded the .iso images from three differnt mirror sites, could this be the problem, or are there other things I sould know about and do?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated
thanks,
Niels

Downloading from different sites shouldn't be a problem. Have you checked the md5sums?

Check this link (http://linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/verifyiso.html) if you don't know how to do that.

Just want to make sure that you copied the CD as an "image" and not just dragged the .iso onto the blank CD-R. Don't laught... we've all done it once.

hmm..
My last replay didn't seem to make it.

I had tried the mediachecks with all disks and they were listed as being ok. So with your advise I then then checked the md5sums manually against what was listed at redhat. Disk 2 and 3 were incorrect (even they listed themselves as 7.3), so I redown loaded the disks from redhat- And they checked out with md5sum.
So it seems (based on mediacheck being ok, but not the same as what was at redhat) that not all download places have exactly the same iso images.
thanks for the help
