I've installed 7.2 (factory cd) and a friend of mine burned off 8.0 installation cd's for me. How do I upgrade? I read the install.txt file on the cd and it didn't help me. I rebooted with the boot floppy that came with my 7.2 with the 8.0 cd and everything seemed to be going well and then I get a message saying that my cd doesn't contain a copy of Mandrake which it does. I verified that before reboot. My question is, can anyone explain to me or point me to somewhere on the net that will lead me step by step through an upgrade from 7.2 to 8.0?
Thanks.

You cannot install 8.0 from a 7.2 boot disk.
I booted from the CD and clicked on Upgrade (rather than install) when the menu came up. That was pretty much it.

Mandrake strongly advises NOT to upgrade from 7.2 to 8.0 due to RPM incompatibility. They suggest a clean install. Boot from CD, or make a boot floppy from the 8.0 CD. Look at install.htm (on your 8.0 CD ) for instructions.

What I did to upgrade was to stick the first CD in the drive (the one with 'inst' iso). It is the only bootable one, I think. I always get a message from the BIOS that I have a bootable CD in the drive. Then at LILO, I choose 'floppy', without having a floppy in the drive and from there it goes straight into the installer.
