Whenever I choose to log out of KDE, rather than the screen shading, I get rather unpleasant looking lines on the screen. Attached is a screenshot.
When I had Redhat installed it had this problem to begin with, but fiddling with something caused it to behave itself. Now I'm running Slackware I've got the same problem and it's not going away this time.
My XF86Config file graphics device section is as recommended,
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel i815e"
Driver "i810"
#VideoRam "4092"
# Insert Clocks lines here if appropriate
EndSection
I have tried uncommenting the VideoRam line but, no effect. Does anyone recognise the problem?
I've also heard that the i815e chipset can allocate system RAM for graphics memory above its 4MB dedicated memory. Is this so and can I put a higher value in the VideoRam field for better performance?
