I am rather new to this too but I found that there is a program on the mandrake disk under the dosutils called fips that worked for me rather nice.....Just make sure you back up your partition info it will ask you to do so tell it YES

Well what I was speaking of was the partition space on your drive I dont know I have a bruner so what I did was burn everything off and format. Then I reinstalled windows so that I could have something to fall back on..If you can do that then good for you.If not you could try and connect two computers useing network cards (best) or through a dual ended serial cable on your printer ports but at somewhere around a meg a second you might want to think again..Trust me man I dont think that is a stupid question I have learned to get respect you have to give it that is something I live by so anything I can help with I'll do

As I always suggest read the manuals & documentation. Here's the NHF's on the subject http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/installation/index.html
It's easier for you to read some, get a understanding of Linux and then ask questions instead of asking what step 1 is.
