Burn it on a CD, boot from that CD and then install Mandrake.

You need to select eg. 'Create CD from IMAGE' and then browse to the iso. Has to done the correct way, or you will end up with what so many others have, a CD with 1 file on it. The iso.

The burning software needs to extract the files from within the iso and burn them to CD.

Yes, Nero will burn the CD, it will not natively burn an ISO file per se, meaning it looks for .nrg files, so make it look for *.iso, browse to the file, select it, take all the defaults when the dialog comes up about its number of sectors etc... and burn it.
