o.k...i started with the NIC...i tried to go in netconf and edit all the settings to match the setting windows "winipcfg" gave me...i did the NIC which the cable modem is hooked to is the AMD homelan Adapter i did a lil research and found that it uses the rtl8139 driver...so i put that in netconf...i saved the changes...but when i do ifconfig it says "loopback running" and gives 127.0.0.1 and all that stuff...so i guess its running? but any other command on eth0 says "device or resource busy" does anybody know how to set-up this nic? heres the nic info from windows....
controlpanel > system > devices:
diamond HomePNA & Ethernet Based Adapter
interrupt request 05
I/O range 1020 - 103F

winipcfg:
adapter address: 00-90-00-06-16-F3

could anyone tell me what i should do under linux to set this up?

Sounds like you have a resource conflict. Try turning off PnP in your BIOS.

And once again, read the NHF here http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/network/nicinstall.html

I can only point to the documentation as I've never had to manually setup a nic. eDesktop 2.4 always detects the nic no matter which one I use at home or work.

If I had seen this, I wouldn't have replied.

Why do you post the same question in 4 different forums, but change only the topic?

Don't cross-post. Pick the appropriate forum, post and wait for an answer. After all this is a free service.
