I have a usb deskjet 842c that is giving me grey hair.
It configures o.k., then when I try to print to it, it prints a couple of lines and just quits. The light flashes like it is busy, then it stops.
The system gets REAL sluggish, and I have to reboot to be able to do anything.
I will see this error, scrolling by:
printer.c: usblp0: error -110 writing to printer.
It will scroll until I cut it off and reboot.
No matter how I set up the printer, it does that.
????!!!!!!???
Please help.....

Try this link (http://www.linuxprinting.org/). Maybe you can find something to help you with the problem.

Check to see if /dev/usblp0 (ls -al /dev/usblp*) exists and if not, create using
mknod /dev/usblp0 c 180 0
See if that helps....
BTW... I thought you were going back over to the other side?

Did not have it, made it, what does it do??

Well, it's things like this that make me lean towards it, but have not decided completely yet.
Thanks

Well, I made the file you suggested, but it still does the same thing. Prints about 1/2 page, and then the yellow 'trouble' light starts flashing, flashes for about 10 minutes, then the thing recycles and spits out the paper.
??????????????
(Lemme ask ya a straightforward question - I got ProFTPd configured (I think), now, how do I make it start using xinetd, and how do I access it to check it out??)

Should that be /dev/usblp0 or /dev/usb/lp0??
RH tells me that USB printing is unsupported. Is there an easy answer to " how do get this to work" The system automatically discovered the printer /dev/usb/lp0, but none of the print drivers seem to work; I get an error on the screen when trying to print a test page. Printer is HPDJ952C.
