If your gforce is the device listed on the "device" line under the "screen1" identifier, and "screen1" is the screen specified in the "Server Layout" section following the "Screens" section, then your system will use the gforce. It's normal for the vga device to be there as well; you can leave it there. <edit> Um...you made no mention of problems or errors in your first post. It would help greatly if you could post a specific description of the problem as well as the exact errors you are receiving. </edit> sas 08-25-2002, 06:43 PM right thats that cleared up, and i think i've got the nvidia drivers loaded, *startx* sas 08-25-2002, 06:49 PM umm yeah sorry bout not mentioning no errors but i didn't want to ask till i'd tried everything i'd found, i was just wondering about that vga thing since i'd not found reference to it anywhere i'd looked DMR 08-25-2002, 06:51 PM As long as it's working now, all is good... :) sas 08-25-2002, 06:57 PM well actually its not lsmod tells me NVdriver is unused, is this cos i'm not in X? also i have to modprobe NVdriver everytime i boot up, also booting up into init level 5 won't work, i guess this is because i haven't modprobed NVdriver at that point? i get the nvidia splash screen though i haven't tried to see if it actually works in 3d, sas 08-25-2002, 07:09 PM just tried and wolfenstein is working :D justlinux.com
