Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me out with this.
I can't seem to get any sound with my Sound Blaster Live Value 5.1
under GNOME, but the sound works fine under KDE. I'm
running Mandrake Linux 8.2.

I don't get why my sound works with KDE, but not GNOME.

Thanks.

Have you tried the Gnome sound mixer to ensure the volumes are adjusted correctly and nothing is muted?

Hi there,

Thanks, your suggestion worked. The default setting in GNOME mixer was to have the volume set at Zero for some reason. Also, I had to check a little box in the Control Centre to have it play sound effects. The only thing is that when I dump in a CD and turn on the GNOME CD Player, I don't hear anything. It's not too big of a deal since I can now play MP3s and hear sound effects, but I'd like to know why I can't hear any music on CDs, I've checked all the volumes and everything seems to be fine.
