Some apps do this and some don't. Not sure why. Check it out:

[user@aeon ~]$ su
Password:
[root@aeon /home/user]# nmapfe&
[1] 2082
[root@aeon /home/user]# Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

[1]+ Exit 1 nmapfe
[root@aeon /home/user]#

I am running Storm Linux hail. Under Redhat root could access the X server even if it was another user's session. Now I can't. Any idea how I could get that ability back?

Thanks!

Automatically giving other users (including root) permission to run X clients/apps was deemed a security risk, so, by default, only the owner of the X session has permission. To give all other users permission, type xhost +localhost
