I have a question about running pc100 and pc133 memory together. I was told that the 133 would run slower because of the pc100 ao it would act like a pc100 is this true?? I have a pc133 256MB chip in the 1st slot and a pc100 128 in the second slot. could this be causing me any problems? I have a problem with my browsers craping out on me when ii'm playing games using java. my browsers are the ones that came with SUSE 8.0 PRO every one doe sthe same thing and i'm not sure why. I am very new to linux and havent had the time to read up yet works keepin me 2 busy so i appreciate any help i get thx.
My memory is almost exactly the same: I have a 256 MB PC133 and 2 64M MB PC100.
Anyway, your PC133 chip should just slow down to PC100 and you should have no other problems. Just make sure you set it up in the BIOS if it doesn't auto-detect.

from what i've heard pc133 is just "better" than pc100 in that it can handle the higher clock speed. if you set your system for pc100 you shouldnt have any problems.
however... if you have it set as pc133 the slower ram wont work.

Different chipset manufacturers can make a BIG difference in supposed clock speed differences....On an old HP I had Infineon PC100 that would run just fine at 133 . Despite what ppl say , All Ram is not created equal . Micron , Nanya , or Infineon are among the best chipsets in my opinion . Anyway , to answer your question....Yes ,the presence of PC100 will slow the 133 to 100 also.At least thats been my experience .

Yes having diffrent memory will cause problems. My experience was that it was causing Suse 8 to become unstable.
Their is a bug in konqueror that causes it to close whislt trying to save. This gives a signal 11 error.
Try a diffrent browser.

Have a look at this thread http://linuxnewbie.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60492 just down from yours as the same question was discussed.

One of the reasons my dad doesn't use linux is because of poor java capability when it comes to those internet java games. No matter which browser or which java client is being used, most of those games crap out. Specificaly spades and cribbage from snap.com. Simple games like solitare work fine.
