Will re-install override..?

Hey guys, have drake 8, and thinking about reinstalling it, will it install on top itself, setting everything to default or what??
The prob I am having is the bastille firewall thats setup won't let me su to root or open ANY app. that asks for root PW.
after reading up on this, I found it is the firewall doing this, and I have reconfiged it 6 times with no luck.

It may/may not 'reset' config files, etc. when you install on top of a previous installation. Your best bet would probably be reformatting your partitions when reinstalling.
Hopefully you have /home on a separate partition (which you don't need to format) where you can put stuff you don't want to lose.
