Anybody knows about a Linux driver for a Conexant Riptide PCI Soundcard other that the one in the OSS (Open Sound System) set? OSS works, but has a time limit of 3 hours. I'm running RedHat 7.3. Thank you.

Icarus 08-21-2002, 03:46 PM I believe the Riptide can use the Sound Blaster Live drivers... emu10k1 Linux-Mac-Win 08-21-2002, 11:45 PM I installed the emu10k1-v0.18-2.tar.gz, didn't got any errors, but I still have no sound, any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks. mdwatts 08-22-2002, 06:01 AM The standard suggestions always posted here. Is the emu10k1 module loaded? lsmod will list the loaded modules. chmod 660 /dev/dsp chmod 660 /dev/audio Also ensure you have adjusting the volume controls in the sound mixer and that nothing is muted. Linux-Mac-Win 08-26-2002, 02:24 PM :D I finally found the drivers for the Riptide soundcard that came with some HP Pavillion series, the emu10k1 didn't work, anyways, Thanks mahdi and mdwatts, you all got me on the right track, here's the link for the Conexant Riptide drivers, if anybody needs them: http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/ :( the only problem I'm having know is actually make the modules load at boot, because I can load them by using modprobe, but I have to do it manually after everything loads, Does anybody knows how to make modules load at boot? Thanks. mdwatts 08-26-2002, 05:31 PM I know with my distro (Caldera) I can add the modules to /etc/modules/default, but I guess that is only for Caldera. Pity... Add the module to /etc/rc.d/rc.local /sbin/modprobe <module name> and that should work. Linux-Mac-Win 08-26-2002, 08:53 PM that did the trick, thanks:D HazyBone 10-13-2002, 06:00 PM I have the exact same problem as Linux-Mac-Win had. I found the riptide drivers that I needed for my HP and I installed them. Then I tryed using the modprobe to load them and it tells me that the mods were compiled in GCC v 2 and I have GCC v 3. Any ideas on how I can get my sound to work? I am very new to linux, and I am running Redhat 8 mdwatts 10-14-2002, 09:51 AM Originally posted by HazyBone I have the exact same problem as Linux-Mac-Win had.
