I'm completely new to Linux and I'm trying to install Redhat 7.3 on my old windows machine but I can't get it to work.

Initially I reformatted the hard drive so that I could make it a dedicated Linux machine. Now I've been trying to install it as a dual boot. I've had no success either way.

Here's the thing: I keep getting the following message during installation.

hdd: lost interrupt

A friend suggested that it might be a problem with my ethernet card but removing it didn't make a difference.

So, I've come here in hopes that someone else has had this problem too.

Can you post a description of the hardware?

It is a Compaq Presario 5030 with a Pentium II, cdrom, floppy and Iomega Zip drives, Rockwell 56k modem.

Do you need more specific information?

Unpluuged the Internal Zip Drive and bingo! Apparently the system doesn't assign and interrupt to the Zip drive which I saw in the text based portion before the install started.

Now if I can get it to work once Linux is installed?????
