I am currently piecing together an old pc to use as a linux box (possibly used for routing), using Mandrake 7.2. I don't have enough monitors to go around, so after install, the box is going to run headless. Is it possible to run X-windows through a telnet or ssh session on a Windows box? It probably won't be a frequent occurrence, but it'd be nice if I could telnet in and run X remotely on occasion. Is this possible?

SSH makes all this work, by magic, you dont have to do a thing but install it. X just "comes available" when it connects. Well, it's not magic, actually, it's done with blue smoke and mirrors, i think. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

You'll need an X server for windows tho'. http://www.microimages.com/freestuf/mix/ has a Windows X server (free for 15 days, $25), or you can go to http://www.cygwin.com and install the Windows UNIX-like stuff, then go to the XFree86 link on their site and d/l that.

Linux, the only one with the Penguin.
