I really need some assistance. Can somebody please tell me if a Linux database server can be brought into the same network tree with a Novell box? I'm really not strong on networking, but I do know that I like Linux and I really really dislike Novell.

I'm running Linux 7.2 and Novell 5 (eDirectory?).

Novell does advertise their eDirectory software for Linux. I don't know how well it works or anything. You can see it at this link:

http://www.novell.com/products/edirectory/sysreqs.html

You can even download a free trial version.

I've accessed Novell volumes from a Linux machine but never tried it the other way around.

I'm not quite sure if these are what you want but.... There are atleast two emulators for novell server in linux. They are "mars_nwe" and "lwared". More info on those should be found from IPX-HOWTO (http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/IPX-HOWTO.html) .
