I've installed Corel Photopaint9 for Linux and upon invoking the executable it brings up the dalogue "FontTastic not installed or is not in path". Fine, I do a search and it's not installed.
I find it on my Mandrake 8.2 cd and install the rpm. It stalls and display the dialogue...

" file /etc/init.d from install of-fontastic- glibc-2.0-2000.6.22.14.00-1 conflicts with file from initscripts-6.40.2-41mdk"

Conflicts how? And how do I solve this?
I've also tried the glibc-2.1 rpm, same dialogue.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It wants to overwrite a file that already belongs to the initscripts-6.40.2-41mdk package.

You can use --replacefiles

rpm -Uvh --replacefiles packagename.rpm

Oka y that got me started, but not complete, so went searching some more from errors and came upon this page.

Let me just say that was an experience.:D
Got it up and running and was very dissapointed. If this is some of Corel's finer work it leaves something to be desired. I would suggest to anyone contemplating a download of this to save their time.

Thanks for the tip md.........

What was your gripe about Photopaint?

Sure, it's not as good as Photoshop, but I haven't TRIED Photoshop so I don't know what I'm missing... ;)

I have PS, but I wouldn't think about making comparisons. Not my style really. Let's just say I have the Gimp also and I prefer it over either of the two for the type of image manipulation that suits my style. If your content with Photopaint by all means stay with it. This is not and was not intended to be a bash session.:D

YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME?!?!

Lol... by no means is it :)
I suppose just differing tastes... I could never like the multi-windowed gimp. :)

Cheers :D
