I'm planning on building a little web server for my personal use. Apache/Perl/PHP/MySQL It's a P2 350Mhz and I think WIn2K would eat up too much resources so I want to run linux. I have some questions tho.

Can I use A linux box as a file server for my Win2K box? I need to be able to exchange files between the two machines.
Can I map a drive on my Win2K box to my Linux box?

Can I use Linux to burn CD's so I can play games on Win2K and burn at the same time.

I have an Internal DSL Modem. Can I use it in my Linux Box and share the copnnction? Can I do the opposite and leave it in my Win Box and share to my Linux box?

What's the best Linux distribution for the kind of stuff I'm taliking about?

well I don't know a whole lot about networking, but yes you can burn cds on linux just so long as you set the cd burner as an ide-scsi drive. for networking I know slackware is rock-solid, and I'm sure debian is too. But they are probably the hardest to set anything up in because you have to compile the kernel. mandrake is probably the easiest to set up and doesn't require compiling. I hope someone else can fill in the rest, because I don't really know :)

Yes. Yes.

Yes.

Probably and probably. Linux probably supports the DSL modem (not 100% on that, hence the probably), and I have no clue if Win2k would support it but it probably does (not many products come without MS drivers these days). But both OSes have the capability of connection sharing.
