How to open Open-Office? :P

Hi,

I have just downloaded the Open-Office tarball and install it. I have also read the README, its pdf, tried "whereis OO", went into /usr/loca/bin and "./soffice" but I still couldn't open it.

This is my 1st attempt in using Open-Office and I'm suspecting something went wrong with my installation. Can anyone please help?

Double check that you have execute access to the file.

Question:
Is the presentation compatible with Microsoft Power-Point? i.e: Can I use $M powerpoint to open it?

OO.o can load powerpoint files, and can Save As.. pp files too, but PP can't read native OO files.
