i just bought a 40G HD.
I am plan to install Linux(RH,Mandrake..), freebsd and solaris.
what i can i do first for mulit os?(using partition magic to format and creat partitions? or install one of the distribution first?)
8G partitions(5) ok?
If i can use bootup manager like system commander for help? How?
thx for ur suggestion and help
I installed the distros separately, and just did my partitioning during the installs. Using lilo as my bootloader, I added entries for the distros in /etc/lilo.conf and reran lilo. Voila, multi-boot. So far I've installed RH and Mandrake, and have left space for Slack and Debian, which I plan to install later. I don't know if lilo handles BSD or Solaris; haven't tried that one yet.

I think it is simply a personal preference.
Personally, I would plan first how much space you want to grant every distribution and then use PM to partition the HD.
After that it is quite easy to install the distros because you only have to select the partition that you want to use and that is it...

thx for u guys sharing ur view.
I am currently determined to install the os as below:
Debian, Slack, Mandrake, RH, Solaris and Freebsd.
approx. 7G each.
and I found an article about dual-boot solaris and linux, hope it can help.
http://www.sun.com/software/linux/docs/dual_boot.html
Now my question is:
Is Lilo support to boot solaris and freebsd too?
or some boot manger is better?
and...any comment on my choice of os?(BeOs?Suse?Corel?)

I believe that lilo can boot both Solaris and bsd.
I wouldn't bother with Corel as you will have your hands full with Debian, Slack, Mandrake, RH, Solaris and Freebsd.

yea...I think that i pick too many linux, but in my view Debian or slackware is quite different to RH or Mandrake, so I decided that at least 2 distros for my 40G HD.
Do u think that 3 OS(linux, bsd, unix) is enough for 40G HD?
If not, what other OS or distro u will
suggest?
and, do u know that lilo can support solaris and bsd too?
