Hello all;

I am running Mandrake 6.5 with a bash shell. I have downloaded several pieces of software. After reading the INSTALL file I followed the directions. I used "tar" etc. In both cases I was instructed at the after unpacking the source code ( I guess) to give the command "make". In both cases I recieved the message "unknown command". Help!

That's a pretty old version. You may wish to upgrade.

Discount Linux CDs (http://www.edmunds-enterprises.com/linux/)
Linux Central (http://linuxcentral.com/)
Cheapbytes (http://cart.cheapbytes.com/cgi-bin/cart)

You will have to install the development packages. You didn't choose to install those when you did your initial install.

The make rpm should be inside your Mandrake CD.
And you should follow fancypiper's advance. If not, I forsee a series of dependency problems whenever you install a new program.
