Eterm --trans

Will make the Eterm transparent. For this to work, you need to use Esetroot to set the background.

Esetroot -s filename.jpg

Will do this.

In the pull down menu where you select the background there is another menu above that, I forget what it is called, but you can toggle the transparency there.

use the -O flag. that works for me.

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Well X doesn't support true transparecies, so the way Eterm (and enlightenment) get around this is to paint the root image (as set by enlightenment or esetroot only!) over the area of the terminal. So the first thing you need to make sure of is that esetroot is setting your root image (of your desktop). Eterm's configuration is based on themes, so you need to copy the main theme (I don't remember the directory off hand, I'll edit later tonight when I can look it up, I'm pretty sure the reason your configs are not changing is that a regular user can not change the global theme variables) to your home directory, or make some kind of alisis and add the transparency tags there.

You need to use Esetroot to set your background.

KDE and the konsole can do this automatically (if you have KDE 2) just open up konsole, and then select in the preferences to use transperency.
