Help Installing software/program

help! i am trying to install freeamp on my mandrake 8.0. and when I run the command
./configure I get a bunch of errors-->
checking for gcc..no
checking for cc..no
configure error no acceptable cc in $path
what am I doing wrong?what or how do install this correctly? :confused:

you may need to install the development packages for mandrake. You can use software manager to install them.

You have no c compiler installed or it's not in your path. Most likely not installed.
