I have just installed Red Hat 7.0 and I am having problems with LILO constantly freezing on boot on the "L" of LILO. My HD layout is as follows:
/hda1 - Windows 2000
/hdc1 - Linux /root
/hdc5 - Linux swap

*hda - 3gig*
*hdc - 6gig*

Before Red Hat 7.0 I had Mandrake 7.2 installed dual booting Windows 2000 with Grub which it installed and setup itself and this worked fine. At the moment I boot Red Hat off the boot disc to get into Linux.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to tell exactly what your configuration is so I leave you this http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/osbooting/lilo_dual.html

Some here also suggest adding the line lba32 (I think that's correct) to /etc/lilo.conf and perhaps other options. I would check around here for other posts on the subject and also check the version of lilo in your distro and find out if it has any limitations that could prevent your setup from booting.

with only "L" showing instead of "LILO" lilo wasn't installed properly try booting with a floppy and install lilo again by running "lilo" as root
