Jonas 12-30-2000, 09:08 AM I just installed Redhat 6.2 When booting I get this message: kernel panic In swapper task - not syncing mdwatts 12-30-2000, 09:38 AM Yes, I've seem the SAME error message posted here numerous times. You may want to do a search and perhaps find the answer. Have no idea myself. It may be just adding an option to /etc/lilo.conf Jonas 12-30-2000, 09:56 PM IŽll let you know if I get any answers on this subject and I would appreciate it if you would do the same pbharris 12-30-2000, 11:04 PM system (i.e athalon, pentium, memory...) info would be helpful too. ------------------ I don't use Linux because I hate Windows (which I do) I use Linux because I like it. pbharris_359@yahoo.com Jonas 12-31-2000, 12:27 PM Im using: athlon t-bird 750 abit kt7-rad mainboard 96mb sdram mdwatts 12-31-2000, 03:24 PM Did you do the search as I suggested. Probably not or you would have found this. put this append line after lilo... example LILO: linux append="x86_serial_nr=1" Took 2 minutes to find. Search capabilities must be the greatest invention of all time. I did say in my first post that I had seen the same message posted here before and even gave you a hint about adding an option to lilo.conf ???? Jonas 01-02-2001, 12:19 AM cool it dude, no need to be rude I just had other things to do. Anyway thanks for the help mdwatts 01-02-2001, 09:40 PM Sorry if I came off sounding rude. You posted a couple of times after I suggested for you to do a search here for the answer (I know I had seen it here somewhere) and you asked me to continue searching. Just surprised you hadn't taken the time to find the solution when your system obviously would not boot. I know this will be bumped back up to the top, but I'm always the first to admit if I'm wrong. I was glad to help and hope it did fix your problem. Jonas 01-03-2001, 11:42 AM Well append="x86_serial_nr=1" didnŽt work for me. By the way IŽve got ps2 mouse(actually usb converted to ps2) :] justlinux.com
