When I install LM8.0 on an ast laptop, I can't see the entire screen. Some of the buttons are below the monitor (lcd) bottom. Can I change the resolution at the start to set a resolution so I can see the entire screen?

Yes.

j/k - Try pressing Ctrl and keypad + (if you've got one :( ) to change resolution. Otherwise, you can do it from the Mandrake Control Centre.

LM8.0? Is that Mandrake?

IF you hit ctrl+alt+numpad+ does it change the resolution at all? Normally Mandrake detects these settings well, if thos doesn't change check the /etc/X11/XFConfig-4 file near the bottem is where your screens are defind.

There are also GUI tools in madrake to do this, I don't know them never used it...also from the command line you can type "XFConfig" and that should bring up a menu to config your monitor/vid card/display settings...

Yep, its Mandrake.

I am talking about the screen resolution during the INSTALL. Some of the buttons are off screen. Can I set the resolution when install starts, I think the choices are <Enter> or <F1>. I tried F1 then typing: text - same result.
