After my adventures over the weekend, I finally got Mandrake 8.0 working fine. LILO was even working. I ran their update program and had it install the updates from the net (library updates, etc.) I shut off my computer. I came back later and logged in. KDE started loading, normal speed through the first few things, then when it hit the last few load sequences it just flew. It said "KDE is up and running" Then the spasl screen disappeared.

All I have is the default blue background. I rebooted and used Gnome instead. That worked just fine. So I log out and try KDE. Same problem.

Anyone ever expereience this or know what is causing it?

Is there a way to uninstall the updates? Do you have a list of exactly what was updated? I would check Mandrake's support site to see if anyone else has had the same problem and if they have posted a fix.

Sorry I don't know what else to suggest as it seems the updates are the culprit.
