The large bump on my head is from banging my head into the monitor..

Ok, I'm a newbie.. I installed RedHat 7.3 with a very nice looking install of KDE 3.0.0 (I want 3.1 but thats a post in another forum)

Problem is I cant get this Ogle thingie to work.. I installed all the stuff from the Ogle site. I try to poen up the DVD and Poof, ogle just closed out with no error what so ever.

I installed Ogle 0.8.5 with all the little RPM packages they had on their site (some installed serval times because of frustration)

I just dont know what to do. Please HELP ME. If I bang my head any more I might need to get x-rays to check for damage.

Have you tried running Ogle through the command line? Try that (ogle), you'll see the messages in the terminal so you can get a better idea of why it's crashing...

I doubt you installed the RPMs more then once, once installed it won't let you do it again :p
Unless you did a lot of removing and putting back on and ect...yuck!

Maybe your missing a library or something silly like that? check the output from the terminal and let us know :D

It appears that it wants to open the DVD from /dev/dvd but my DVD drive is mounted as /mnt/cddrive

How do I change this?

Don't you hate that error? ;)

easy way around it....make a symlink from dvd to cdrom...

ln -s /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd

or you can try editing the config file to point to /dev/cdrom

Yahooo... It worked.. Hmm.. but it seems to be very jiddery. Its a Dell Optiplex GS 240 P4 512 megs of ram and a nVidia Gforce 2 Ultra 64

Is there a buffer thingie that I can fiddle with?

I think I figure out the jidders. I think its my sound.. Ive had nothing but problems with the sound on this machine.

No ideas on how to fix this problem with Ogle?

How bad is your sound quality?

Personally, it does that for me too and I've had no 'blems with sound totally, and I've been usin' it for a little while. :-?

What's your sound card? Might not be very well supported :(

Try turning DMA on for the driver, should smooth things out
/sbin/hdparm -d1 /dev/hdx

hdx = where your cd-rom is linked to
